California Wow’s Ekkamai Landlord has had enough!
So my colleague wanted to go and exercise at California Wow’s Ekkamai branch on Monday evening and saw this…
followed by this…
Now not too long ago I wrote this post about California Wow (California WOW – Have they just figured out it’s a scam?), since the company had entered officially entered into bankruptcy it was/is by law allowed to continue operating but is legally not obligated to pay its rent to the landlords (amongst other things). Obviously the Ekkamai Land lord had had enough of this company taking advantage of free rent, and I know of another land lord that is looking to do the same, business is business if you can’t pay just leave, such a shame, there goes my membership…

Who is the other landlod you mentioned before? And you think your membership is lost..that means you think akkk brancheseikl closes sooner or later? I am really concerned..I started my membership just 3months ago and I have also still personal sessions left…

Hi, can’t mention the other landlord it was given during a private conversation sorry.

I honestly hope they can they turnaround and stay open but I have my doubts.

Tomorrow I will meet hpefuy my personal trainer at Asok..I will try to do to hthe remaining 4lessons before everything is closing…

Hi, no idea what the result of the hearing is, but basically every cawow outlet where major cineplex is the landlord looks to be closed still.

What a joke. Just signed up last month.
I actually live closer to Asoke location but they wouldn’t allow me to sign up there as they said they were closing. I asked the manager at Ekkamai about the state of their club prior to signing up and she “promised” me everything was good and no other locations were closing. I knew I couldn’t really take her word as truth but still disconcerting.
Ironically, since Ekkamai closed I’ve been using the Asoke location for the last two weeks. Kind of a dump though. No ventilation in the weight room downstairs and watch out for the puddles on the floor from water dripping from the ceiling. Last night I show up to work out at 8:45pm only to find out they now close at 8:30pm instead of 10:00pm. Will they be closing soon as the initially told me one month ago? Only time will tell.
So I went to Siam Paragon last night instead. Not a big deal, but it kind of sucks going through the madness of Siam Paragon BTS/mall to get there. I don’t want to do that every workout.
I’m going to try the Silom location today. Hopefully their hours haven’t been affected or they also aren’t closed down entirely.
I’ll be signing up with True Fitness once my membership expires.

I am at the moment at suk23..still hot,but they have a bit aircon at least again..

just simply go to http://www.set.or.th and you can find out who the major shareholders are in cawow, major was an initial shareholder but has since sold off its shares (i believe 2 years ago) b/c of cawow continuing to post a net loss over the past few years and was most probably extremely dissatisfied with its investment there.

Yes..Ivwas there the last days and at the moment too..but ducking hot…minimal aircon…ii am thinking to go to true fitness at asok exchange tower..promotion at the Moment.. about 2000 bath for 4months..

I went to sukhumvit soi 23 today and the doors were closed with a sign saying “CLUB CLOSED” I then called up California WoW but no one answered, i then called up 1113 think its called “bug” and told me that ekkamai, paragon, and esplande are opened and operating today. I then went to ekkamai and the doors were closed with an apology note apologizing about the dispute with the land lord cutting off the electricity supplied to california wow.
Think i will be signing up for either True Fitness at the exchange tower asoke, or Fitness First at terminal 21.

So i called up California WOW member center and they told me that “ALL” of the branches closed except for Siam Paragon branch. So i asked the operator if Siam Paragon is opened today and he wasn’t sure. So i’m going to test my luck today and will let you guys know of the outcome.

I went to Siam Paragon today and California WOW was closed. There were lots of people standing outside the doors confused at angry. I then went to True Fitness at Asoke Exchange Tower negotiating about their plans/contract and got a deal with them for a 1 year contract costing me 1,889 baht per month. The True Fitness staff told me that if you opened a bank account from Bangkok Bank you could get a special Promotion that cost a lot cheaper.

Wow I didn’t know Paragon had closed, even though temporarily. I’ve been going there for a few weeks and it was always open. I’m done with Cali though I’m sick of this BS. I’m just going to eat the last four months of my membership.
I went to check out True Fitness at Asoke. Great gym. It’s refreshing to have a workout in a clean, well kept, spacious facility. Should have signed with them from the beginning.

hi guys 🙂 I have just moved to Bangkok and have been here for about a month, I really would like to do fitness at a fair price! I have been in Lumbini park to train, but are looking for something more allaround, I then heard that WOW should be fair at the price…but yes its closed i can see, Do you guys have any ideas on where to do proper fitness around sukumhvit 71. true fitness really seems nice but i only wanna train for a couple of months, any ideas?? thanks
