And just like that, in the space of 2-3 weeks, the SET is only down -14% ytd. (from < -20%)

Still hold to a viewpoint that 1) There’s no more selling pressure because everyone is out or stuck at the top 2) Thailand could surprise better than expected on the tariff’s after seeing the # that indo received (19% vs Vietnam’s 20%), but 3) There’s going to be a lot of political noise this week….BoT gov, a few noise items about the Shinawatra’s, the gov budget, the tariff’s…let’s see what happens

The question is why thailand got a higher tariff rate than many other coutries in ASEAN.

    – is the trade imbalance wit the USA really that high?
    – what did indonesia and vietnam do to get a lower tariff rate which thailand couldn’t do yet?
    – how good are thailand’s trade negotiators really? I guess we will soon see it.

    • I like the game that Thai team is playing. Vietnam HAD to rush otherwise their country goes broke within 2 months with the higher tariffs, they are incredibly reliant on foreign capital. Pichai is a clever fellow, I expect to be positively surprised.

Indonesia – uncle prab’s and his team are pro US.

Every exporting nation has massive trade imbalances with the US….then again…if Apple/google were to only legally domicile in the US and invoice us users from there perhaps it wouldn’t be the case…
