This is a question we get posed every year regarding our thoughts on the economy, the markets, which sectors are good/bad etc etc and while we make the necessary presentations with pretty powerpoint slides and insightful graphs, after being in this business for the past 8 years the best answer I can give is I don’t know.

Things constantly change, new companies emerge in terms of potential investments, others may fall out of favour, a natural disaster can wipe things out in an instant, politics can be a factor, China can hiccup, one major investment fund/bank can have a brainfart and a liquidity event occurs and so forth, so the best honest answer I give nowadays is to simply say I don’t know but that we will invest in a way that allows us to sleep well at night.

  1. I can understand I don’t know, nothing thus far has went the way I expected. With all that is going on one would expect a correction downward on the market and the baht, Doesn’t look that way at the moment, Foreign investors ran for the hills (expected) Market went above 1300.

Where is the money coming from?

Two weeks ago baht in the 33 range back to 32 again. Dollar has been going up, so has the baht. Not what I expected at all.

Me I’m just keeping my head down and not adding anything at this point just doesn’t seem real to me.

    • Local funds pushed up banking and telco’s last week hence the market rise (we think)
As for the currency no idea on short term movements.
And yes foreign investors are mainly out of Thailand already.

  2. Thanks, I truly expected the SET to be at 1200 by now. I will wait till this Political mess settles before buying. I noted a lot of companies buying their own stock. Your site is very helpful for trying to understand.

I’m looking for the buy in point even with the fall today, I don’t think we are there yet. Still good companies out there a little pricy from my view
