The Bt177bn purchase by Japan’s Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) of GE Capital’s 25.3% stake in Bank of Ayudhya (BAY), Thailand’s fifth-largest bank by assets, and the tender offer drew attention due to the potential changes that the global player could make in the country’s banking landscape. Comment: I don’t expect that much difference in terms of BAY’s market share in their respective industry segments, expect for the natural increase in Japanese corporate customers.

BKD

BKD reports 1Q14 earnings growth of 10% YoY. It expects to double earnings growth with revenue of Bt1bn or +60% YoY in 2014. It has current backlog of Bt2bn and will sign for two additional projects worth Bt1.5bn. It is working on bids for new projects worth Bt5bn. (Khao Hoon, 06/05/14)

EARTH

EARTH’s shareholders okay cash dividend of Bt0.034/share and were informed about the set up of Energy Earth (Hong Kong) Company Limited. This company is expected to start operations in 3Q14. (Tun Hoon, 06/05/14)

FPI

FPI is evaluating electrical auto business with partner to access the Chinese market. It expects a clearer deal within 6 months and aims to sell auto parts in 2015. (Khao Hoon, 06/05/14)

ICHI

Will ask again for BoI help — ICHI will file more data after the BOI turned down its request for promotional benefits for its green tea expansion project worth Bt2.6bn in Rojana Industrial Park. It expects no impact on its expansion plan and revenue growth of 20% YoY in 2014. (Khao Hoon, 06/05/14)

KCE

KCE will report 1Q14 financial performance in this week. It says earnings growth was good and is plans to list Thai Laminate Manufacturer on the SET. (Khao Hoon, 06/05/14)

Shareholders gather signatures to reject PP — Representatives of retail shareholders of Noble are confident they will be able to force the company to cancel its planned PP and will sue management after they gather the necessary number of signatures from shareholders who oppose the PP. UAC aims to double market capitalization from Bt4.6bn within 1-2 years after booking more revenue from alternative energy businesses. Management expects 2014 revenue of Bt1.2bn and plans for alternative energy to contribute 50% of total revenue in 2015. (Khao Hoon, 06/05/14)

Comment: A wonderful company run by a wonderful CEO, it has been a no brainer for a few years now.
