Slightly off the beat post, but politics in Thailand never ceases to amaze me. Chuvit was the well-known owner of several massage parlours in Bangkok and had supposedly sold his entire stake in all his entities to enter into politics. He’s been on moral crusade against corruption, dirty cops, and now casino’s. While I appreciate his “honesty” and his attempts to clean up Thailand, one does just have to wonder is this the best Thailand has to offer? Or on the flip side, perhaps its a great thing that someone in politics is actually being forthcoming about all the negative aspects in Thailand.

Chuvit: Big new casino in city

Rak Thailand Party leader Chuvit Kamolvisit says a new, large casino has been built in Huai Khwang and is expected to open soon – continuing his crusade against illegal gambling dens.

The new casino is about 500m from the Meng Jai intersection in Huai Khwang district.

During the government policy debate in parliament in August Mr Chuvit  presented video clips showing a casino in operation in the city.

The disclosure led to three senior Bangkok police officers being transferred to inactive posts and the city police being ordered, once again, to crack down on casinos operating in the capital.

Mr Chuvit said all the police ever do is take a hundred men and raid a casino several times, but do not actually do anything serious about closing them down or arresting the operators.

If the police were serious they should send a single officer to him, and he would take the officer into the casino and help him film the illegal gambling activities inside it.
