I have to keep reminding myself this time and time again about Thailand, since I’ve lived here I’ve seen bird flu, pig flu, tsunami, yellow/red/black/blue – basically every rainbow coloured shirt protest, coup d’etats, global financial crisis, capital controls, etc etc and yet this country still recovers, and going forward I still expect for Thailand to be doing perfectly fine, remember Thailand has/is:

  • The world’s largest tuna company
  • The world’s largest chicken company
  • The top tourism destination in the world
  • Possibly #1 again in terms of rice exports in the world
  • Top 10 in automotive manufacturers in the world (#1 in ASEAN)
  • In terms of equity markets – the most liquid market in SE Asia for FY 2013

The only frustrating thing is the answer to this rhetorical question – Can you imagine how much further this country would be if it weren’t for all the political rubbish?

  1. yes
    i have to agree
i pulled out of the market just because of the political nonsense and have been waiting

i think after Songkran some heads will roll and then we can get on with it

    good luck
