AMATA

AMATA focuses on Vietnam —Apart from running Amata City (Bien Hoa) in Ho Chi Minh City on an area of 4,375 rai, the company has spent 10 years trying to set up Amata Express City on 7,781 rai in Long Thanh city in Dong Nai province. Thailand’s political strife dampened Amata’s land sales last year to only 1,008 rai from an earlier estimate of 3,000 rai, prompting the company to focus more on Vietnam this year. Comment: Vietnam is still a relatively small business for AMATA when compared to what they have in Thailand. But the upcoming IPO should keep the stock buoyant

BAY

BAY aims to expand to insurance business to Japanese market. It expects insurance fees of Bt14.5bn in 2014. AZAY is not a concern because there is a room for market expansion. (Khao Hoon, 10/03/14)

DTAC

Telenor to continue to invest in Thailand despite the political situation. To strengthen its presence in Thailand, Telenor launched the DETAC Accelerate venture capital fund worth Bt100mn. The fund aims to push Thai startups to go global as well as create new jobs and income locally, promote mobile internet and applications and develop the country’s growing mobile internet ecosystem. EA

EA expects net profit of Bt260mn in 1Q14 supported by its 98MW solar farms. It aims to sign a 126MW wind electricity sale agreement with EGAT in 1H14. (Khao Hoon, 10/03/14)

EGCO

EGCO lays out expansion plan in 2014 – It announced a capital expenditure of about Bt20bn this year. Most of that has been allocated to the new power generation unit at Khanom and the Boco Rock Wind Farm in Australia. It expects its power generation capacity will top 6,100 MW by 2019, up from 4,518 MW now. (Bangkok Post, 10/03/14)
