GRAND expects record high net profit in 3Q14 as it transfers Hyde Sukhumvit worth Bt2bn. The company plans to use the funds to service debt and bring D/E to 0. Its hotel business is robust as it has many bookings. It expects net profit of Bt1.3bn in 2014 and will invest Bt1.5bn in a large project, expected to generate net profit of Bt1bn. GUNKUL posted net profit of Bt104.94mn in 2Q14, +637.45% YoY. Management expects a robust performance in 2H14 as it will bid for additional projects to bring backlog up from Bt1.2bn and set up a subsidiary focusing on renewable energy. PTTGC eyes bigger Indonesia outlay – PTT Global Chemical Plc (PTTGC), the country’s biggest petrochemical maker, may raise its budget for a facility in Indonesia after a change in its partner’s investment plan. President and chief executive Bowon Sinudom said the joint venture with Indonesian’s oil flagship, PT Pertamina, previously called for co-investing in an olefin cracker worth US$5bn. A feasibility study revealed a better course of expanding the complex’s oil refinery at the same time. As a result, PT Pertamina will change its plan from investing only in petrochemicals to also increasing capacity at the oil refinery on Java from 125,000 barrels per day to 360,000. THAI needs to find Bt27bn by mid-2015 in order to survive — THAI needs to raise Bt27bn by the second quarter of next year in order to survive. Comment: A wonderful little company that continues to perform well. Specsavers (the UK’s largest eyewear chain) is one of its major shareholders.

TTA’s 3Q14 net profit grew 310% YoY, the highest in five years, as all businesses showed strong earnings. Management believes its businesses are in an upward trend and expects net profit of Bt700-800mn as it will book extra income from listing its subsidiary on the stock exchange in October 2014. Comment: With all their write off’s last year its about time this company made a profit.
WHA
WHA 2Q14 earnings increased 26% YoY. It said 2H14 earnings will be driven by expansion in leasable area and also business abroad. The company is confident that revenues this year will be no less than Bt5bn. It also plans to set up a REIT worth more than Bt4.7bn at the end of this year. (Kao Hoon, 14/08/14)
